Bulk Editing
Bulk editing lets you select multiple entries at once and update their metadata in a single step — without having to open each entry individually.
Where is Bulk Editing available?
| Area | How to activate |
|---|---|
| Snippets → Manage | Select multiple entries using Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click |
| Slides → Manage | Select multiple entries using Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click |
| Storylines → Manage | Select multiple entries using Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click |
| Slides within a Storyline | Check the checkboxes on the slide tiles |
Bulk Editing in Snippet / Slide / Storyline Manage
Selecting entries
- Ctrl+Click — add individual entries to the selection
- Shift+Click — select all entries between two clicks
- As soon as more than one entry is selected, the right panel automatically switches from the detail form to the bulk panel
Available in all views
Multi-selection via Ctrl/Shift works in all views — tile, table (☰), list + image (▦), by category and tree. Choose any view via the toggle at the top.
The Bulk Panel
The bulk panel shows at the top how many entries are selected — including the type, e.g. «3 Slides selected». It uses the same form layout as the detail view (same fields and labels).
The following fields can be updated simultaneously:
| Field | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Category | All entries receive this category |
| Language | All entries receive this language |
| Audience | All entries receive this audience |
| Status | All entries receive this status |
| Classification | All entries receive this classification |
| Tags | Append or replace (see below) |
Pre-filled values for mixed values
- If all selected entries share the same value, it is pre-filled in the field
- If entries have different values, the field is left empty
Empty fields are not changed on save — only fields with an entered value are applied to all selected entries.
Tags: Append or Replace
Two modes are available for the tags field:
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Append (default) | New tags are added to the existing tags; existing tags are kept |
| Replace | Existing tags are completely replaced by the new tags |
Apply
Click «Apply to all» to save the changes to all selected entries.
Public Items
Public items in a mixed selection are skipped when saving. A notice appears at the end indicating how many items were skipped. In admin mode, public items can also be edited.
Bulk Editing of Slides within a Storyline
In the Storylines → Manage area, you can update the metadata of the included slides together — without opening each slide individually in Slide Manage.
How to proceed
- Select a storyline in the list
- In the right panel, check the desired slides using the checkbox in the top-right corner of each slide tile
- Once 2 or more slides are checked, the «Bulk edit» button in the slide header becomes active
- Click «Bulk edit» to open a dialog
- Adjust the fields and click «Apply to all»
The dialog — like the Manage panel — pre-fills values when all selected slides share the same value.
Typical use case
After saving slides via Ribbon → Save as Storyline, the newly created slides may not have complete metadata. Bulk editing lets you set category, language, status and other fields for all slides in the storyline at once.
