Controls the stacking order (Z-order) of shapes on the slide — which shape appears in front of or behind others. Extends the standard PowerPoint commands with useful additional functions.

Standard Z-Order

The familiar PowerPoint commands directly in the Ribbon:

Function Description
Bring to Front Bring the shape all the way to the front
Bring Forward Move the shape one position forward
Send to Back Send the shape all the way to the back
Send Backward Move the shape one position backward

Swap Order

Icon Function
Swap Order Swap order — swaps the Z-order of exactly two selected shapes. The shape that was in front moves to the back, and vice versa.

Swap Shapes (Position)

Icon Function
Swap Swap shapes — swaps the position of exactly two selected shapes. Both shapes retain their size, but their center points are exchanged.

Swap vs. Swap Order

Swap order changes only the stacking order (which is on top), the position stays the same. Swap shapes changes the position on the slide, the Z-order stays the same.

Sort by Size

Sorts all selected shapes by their area and stacks them accordingly:

Function Description
Largest to back Largest shape sent to background, smallest to foreground — ideal for overlapping diagrams
Smallest to back Smallest shape sent to background
